Vocational Courses (VET)

Vocational Education and Training is industry specific training providing students with national qualifications which are recognised in SACE and can be obtained while the student is still at school.

Students are able to undertake the following courses on site at Gawler District College B-12.


  • Certificate I Doorways 2 Construction
  • Certificate III Doorways 2 Construction + Carpentry (Partial)

Students explore the Carpentry Industry and undertake tasks in constructing tables, using hand /power tools, erect a structure within the school grounds and have the opportunity to complete a project. Students also attend the GDC School Trade Centre to complete their White Card, module books and skills exercises.


  • Certificate II in Engineering Pathways – Working towards

This program provides participants with knowledge, skills and understanding of essential engineering practices and is a good foundation for the broader range of occupations in the Engineering Industry. Students devise their own career plan for the engineering or manufacturing industry. Safe working practices are emphasised as they use hand and power tools and a range of workshop machines to produce a basic engineering project. Students entering this course need to have a sound level of science and numeracy skills to enjoy these subjects.

Hospitality, Tourism & Food Processing

  • Certificate II Hospitality
  • Certificate II Kitchen Operations

This program is hands-on and action based training. This course will give participants the confidence, skills and knowledge to work within various departments of the hospitality industry and many different venues ranging from hotels, motels, resorts, cafes, restaurants and tourism operations. Students participate in real catering and function events. Students are exposed to all facets and a variety of career paths that exist within the hospitality industry on completion of this program. The program is delivered by HS Hospitality Services under agreement with Tauondi College and GDC. Students will be involved in field trips to a range of businesses and cater at functions ranging from 10 to 350 people.


  • Cert 3 Music Industry

A full year program in developing skills and knowledge for a pathway in the Music Industry, with a primary focus on developing competent rehearsal and performance skills and techniques, participation in live performances is mandatory. The course also includes musical analysis of a range of genres, song writing, copyright, notation, recording and working with music technology utilising current music software.
